与传统光谱分析突变相比,破译突变特征可以对癌症在发生过程中产生体细胞突变的生物过程有更好的分辨能力。以往对膀胱尿路上皮癌(BLCA)和宫颈鳞状细胞癌(CESC)的突变特征的研究未能发现引起两种癌症的不同突变过程,从而削弱了通过突变特征来区分两种癌症的能力。在这项研究中,研究者破译并比较了膀胱尿路上皮癌(BLCA)和宫颈鳞状细胞癌(CESC)的突变特征。他们从37098个体细胞突变的130个外显子中破译了4个BLCA突变特征,从44206个体细胞突变的194个外显子中破译了5个CESC突变特征。其中发现了3个突变特征在 BLCA 和 CESC 发展过程中有相同的内源性突变过程。两种癌症中发现的第4个突变特征均揭示了病毒感染在两种癌症发生中的重要角色。值得注意的是,突变特征4在CESC中是一个未在其他研究中描述过的新发现的突变特征。总之,研究者通过破译突变特征揭示了 BLCA 和 CESC 的相同和不同之处。这项研究为日后使用突变特征来阐明人类癌症通过内源性和外源性致癌物引起体细胞突变的机制提供了线索。原始出处:Zhou N1, Yuan Y1, Long X.et al.Mutation
