绿原酸是众多中草药和天然产物中抗菌、抗病毒有效药理成分之一，存在于大量植物中，如茶叶、咖啡、金银花等，具有抗菌、抗病毒、提高白血球、保肝利胆、抗肿瘤、降血压、降血脂、清除自由基和兴奋中枢神经系统等作用。然而，绿原酸对衰老的影响及机制等仍不清楚。

中国科学院昆明植物研究所罗怀容研究组利用秀丽隐杆线虫为模型，发现绿原酸抗衰老作用及其作用机制；研究发现，绿原酸能延长野生型线虫寿命达20.1%；绿原酸主要通过作用于胰岛素信号通路，降低AKT磷酸化水平，激活转录因子DAF-16及其下游基因的表达，提高线虫对外界压力环境的抵抗，延长线虫的寿命。

该研究成果以Chlorogenic Acid Extends the Lifespan of Caenorhabditis elegans via Insulin/IGF-1 Signaling Pathway 为题发表于老年医学专业杂志The Journals of Gerontology, Series A: Biological Sciences and Medical Sciences。

该研究工作得到国家自然科学基金（81370453）和云南省基础研究项目（2013FA045和2015FB172）的资助。
