PNAS:看饱和脂肪酸如何扰动你的内质网

近日,来自哥伦比亚大学的研究人员探究了脂质代谢背景下功能性ER的相行为。其利用先进的振动成像技术,即受激拉曼散射显微镜,对内质网进行了观察。研究人员发现,棕榈酸酯(一种普遍存在的饱和脂肪酸(SFA))的代谢可能驱动固体样区域从大致均匀流体的ER膜上分离。该现象以前没有被发现过。

各种脂肪酸诱导固相的潜力可以通过其主要代谢物的转变温度来预测。研究人员还观察到了饱和脂肪酸和不饱和脂肪酸之间的相互作用。

因此,该项研究通过强调活细胞的非平衡代谢状态揭示了细胞膜生物物理学。
